Game 3: New Hampshire 13, Minnesota 4

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Nick Kelly and Dylan Bartlett combined on a five-hit performance, and the New Hampshire Bobcats clobbered the Minnesota Millers, 13-4, in the Presidents' Day Challenge tournament at Holman Stadium on Sunday afternoon. New Hampshire trailed by three runs and rallied for another big comeback with four runs in the fourth inning. Connor Lyons ripped a two-run single in the fourth and added a run-scoring double in the fifth. Lyons and Joseph Quintal each scored three runs, and Bartlett unleashed a run-scoring triple in the sixth inning. Bartlett pitched four innings, facing only 14 batters, as the Bobcats improved to 2-1 in tournament play. Birthday boy Ricky Perry, who turned 13, went 1-for-1 with a two walks and scored three runs. Vero Beach Day 2

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Joseph Quintal picked up a win in relief, and the Bobcats erased a five-run deficit to rally for a 9-7 victory against the Jacksonville Crusaders in the Presidents' Day Challenge on Saturday.  The game featured a violent collision at home plate in which Bobcats catcher Dylan Bartlett was steamrolled by a Jacksonville player, who was ejected. Bartlett's nose was bloodied, but he was OK after taking a break on the bench. Connor Singh provided a clutch three innings of relief and also singled and tripled to fuel the comeback. In the seventh, Ricky Perry, Nick Kelly and Quintal all had singles as New Hampshire sent nine men to the plate. Tommy Rock executed a squeeze bunt during the rally, driving in the final run.

"We showed a lot of heart and teamwork. We wanted to win it for Dylan," said Perry, who celebrated his 13th birthday on Sunday. "That was one of the best games I've ever been part of."

Earlier in the day, Wisconsin defeated New Hampshire, 5-3, in a back-and-forth contest. Starting pitcher Connor Lyons pitched three efficient innings, and Cody Morissette worked the fourth and fifth. In the first defensive play of the season, the Bobcats turned a 4-6-3 double play from Perry to Morissette to Kelly. Owen Willis ripped the first hit of the season, and Alex Pelham reached twice with walks and scored in the seventh inning as the Bobcats loaded the bases. The Bobcats (1-1) face Minnesota (0-2) in Sunday's opener at Dodgertown.

Welcome to Dodgertown!

VIERA, Fla. -- Bobcats Spring Training Day 1: Happiness is baseball on Feb. 15. We began the day with a trip to Viera to watch the Washington Nationals on their second day of spring training. It was awesome! There were no more than 10 fans at the complex outside Space Coast Stadium when we arrived. All our guys were able shag new Major League Baseballs during batting practice. We were able to chat with Adam Laroche, who had 33 homers and 100 RBIs last season. Adam's father, Dave, was the Fisher Cats pitching coach for two seasons. A gracious Denard Span stopped for a photo and was great with the kids. We were big-leagued by Stephen Strasburg, who didn't stop for autographs, and there was no Bryce Harper sighting ... We checked into the Vero Beach Sports Complex and had our first practice at 5 p.m. It was great to knock off some rust and get the boys some on-field work before our first game on Saturday morning against a team from Wisconsin.

We're inside "Dodgertown" and staying in the same rooms once occupied by Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Steve Garvey, Mike Piazza and Kirk Gibson. Coach KG and Monty are staying in a poolside cabana, which must be the best room on the property. The pool is literally 10 steps outside a sliding glass door. This had to be Tommy Lasorda's suite! Here's a 1948 pic of Robinson and Roy Campanella at Dodgertown.

Jack McLean scored the team's first run as the New Hampshire Bobcats 10u squad played its first game in program history at Seacoast United in Kingston on Sunday. The Bobcats lost both games of a doubleheader but several youngsters impressed the coaching staff during the indoor contests. Anthony Salcito also scored, and Austin Brummett and Zack Smith made impressive pitching debuts. Other players making history on the first-ever 10u Bobcats roster: Sean Begley, Alex Boisvert, Evan Provost, Ethan Gray, Brady Lacourciere, Joey Songen, Connor Treybig, Tyson Whittaker.
