Red-hot Rivera named Player of the Week

Hitting machine John Rivera, who ranks third in the Elite Baseball League 14U Division with a .600 average, has been named Elliot Sports Medicine Player of the Week for his efforts on Memorial Day against the North Shore Tigers. Rivera had a monster game in a 17-16 extra-inning loss, going 4-for-6, including a double, and scoring three runs. He also pitched three innings of relief, allowing one hit and one unearned run. "Johnny Riv" also had two hits in the opener of the doubleheader and stole four bases on the afternoon. For the EBL season, Rivera is batting 14-for-25 with nine walks. He also leads the league with a robust .706 on-base percentage. Congrats! Other nominees:

  • Mitchell Fama - went 3-for-4 in the doubleheader and drove in the tying run in the seventh inning of game two. 
  • Tommy Rock - Drove in four runs and reached base five times against North Shore. Also made several clutch catches while patrolling the outfield.

Deck deals his way to Player of the Week

Declan Knieriem pitched five shutout innings for the win, leading the way to a doubleheader sweep against the MV Thunder at Chelmsford, Mass., on Sunday. Knieriem, who struck out six and did not walk a batter, was named Elliot Sports Medicine Player of the Week. Bobcats White improved to 10-5 overall. Other nominees:

  • Andrew Dupuis - Pitched 2-2/3 scoreless innings of relief, earning the win as the Bobcats 14s overcame a four-run deficit and defeated the MV Thunder, 7-5. Dupuis also pitched a perfect inning for the Bobcats 13s on Saturday and went 1-for-2 with a run, RBI and stolen base against the New England Ravens.
  • Bailey Hamilton - Had five hits in the doubleheader sweep, including a double to spark a sixth-inning game in the second game. Scored four runs and picked up two RBIs on the day.
  • Tim McEacharn - Had four hits and played outstanding defense at catcher, throwing out two runners attempting to steal.

Morissette earns Elliot Sports Medicine Player of the Week honors

Cody Morissette went 6-for-6 with two walks, picking up seven RBIs, as the 13U New Hampshire Bobcats swept the North Shore Cougars and took sole possession of first-place in the Elite Baseball League 13U American East division on Saturday. Morissette, named the Elliot Sports Medicine Player of the Week, had three doubles and a triple and also earned the victory on the mound in the second game at St. Anselm College. The Bobcats (11-1) play the New England Ravens at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Saturday at 9 a.m. Other nominees for Player of the Week:
  •  Alex Pelham - six hits and six RBIs in two games at St. Anselm College. Pelham's drove in the tying and go-ahead run in a 5-4 victory for Bobcats 14U.
  • Jeff Bell - threw a complete game, notching six strikeouts as the Bobcats defeated the Hurricanes and won their fourth straight.
  • John Rivera - stayed red-hot with three hits, three stolen bases, four runs in a 19-11 win against the Minutemen. Leads Bobcats Blue with .529 batting average.
  • Raphy Salazar - 4-for-5 with two doubles against the Minutemen. 
  • Connor Lyons - notched a complete-game, working seven innings and fanning seven against the North Shore Cougars in a 4-2 win.
