Seven wins on the weekend

Connor Abood smashed the first home run of his career and Jack McLean went 4-for-5 with three doubles as the Bobcats 12u squad swept a doubleheader against the Granite Heat on Saturday. It was a big weekend for the Bobcats organization, who collected seven victories on the weekend. Other highlights:

  •  Matt Stanieich and Richie Marique picked up wins on the mound to lead first-place Bobcats Red (6-1-1) in a doubleheader sweep against the Red Wings in Middle School play. Henry Crawford and Sam Frojo helped fuel the offense, while Aiden Coyne and Luke McCusker provided excellent relief pitching.
  • In the HS Division, lefty Declan Knieriem had 15 strikeouts, and Ryan Simard drove in the winning run for Bobcats Red, which defeated Northern Lakes, 3-2.
  • Matthew Chandler's grand slam capped a doubleheader sweep for Bobcats Navy against Cannons Gold. Moises Celaya earned a complete-game win in the opener (a 4-3 win) and also homered in Game 2.

Navy squad off to a hot start

Swinging a 32-inch maple bat, Cody Morissette hammered a three-run triple to complete a doubleheader sweep for Bobcats Navy in High School Division play this afternoon. The Bobcats (4-0) defeated Cannons Orange, 5-0, and Cannons Black, 11-1, at Winnisquam High in Tilton. Among the weekend highlights:

  • Drew Merrick, Nick Kelly and Isaac Blake combined for a shutout in the opener, and the defense turned three double plays.
  • RHP Matthew Chandler was dominant in relief, touching 80 mph on the radar gun on at least three pitches.
  • Morissette nearly homered for a tone-setting double in the opener, finishing with four hits and five RBI on the day.
  • Moises Celaya had quite a productive weekend. He kicked a game-winning 24-yard field goal for Hanover High on Friday night and had another big day for the Bobcats, reaching base several times and pitching a perfect inning to cap the sweep.
  • Dina Monty cooked omelettes for players between games.

Perfect weekend (4-0) for Middle School teams

In the opening weekend of fall play, Cody Pfeifer homered over the wall in left field as Bobcats Navy won, 13-7, at Youngsville today. Starting pitcher Logan Galloway earned the win, and Pfeifer pitched well in relief. The second game was rained out and played Wednesday. Nick Achorn hit a walk-off single to give the Bobcats a 5-4 win. Luke Brown pitched well in relief, earning the win ... In Tilton, Bobcats Red defeated Cannons Gold, 6-5, behind strong pitching by Richie Marique and Drake Leask. Carter Smith led the offense throughout the afternoon, and Luke McCusker supplied the winning RBI-single in the sixth inning. In the second game, right-handers Adam Grabowski, Henry Crawford-Eng and Aiden Coyne all pitched effectively. Foster Stacey's squeeze bunt highlighted a four-run rally for the Bobcats in the second inning. Later, Sam Froio doubled and Aaron Zabawski tripled to cap the scoring.
